CPA Buddy supports five roles: owner, admin, manager, staff, and contractor. Owners and admins manage the firm, including staff and settings. Managers get broader visibility than staff, while staff and contractors focus on the work assigned to them. There is one owner per firm.

Your plan includes a number of seats. Each active staff member — and each pending invitation — uses one seat. When you invite someone, they receive a secure link to join. You can see seat usage at any time and upgrade your plan when you need more.

Yes. Deactivating a staff member immediately removes their access while preserving their history in the firm. You can reactivate them later if a seat is available. The owner account cannot be deactivated.

Owners and admins can invite, activate, deactivate, delete, and edit staff. Other roles have view-only access to the directory. This keeps control of firm membership with the people responsible for it.
