Keep client data in Canada

Choose Canadian data residency for client information and for your firm’s own records. The CRA does not treat records kept outside Canada and accessed electronically from Canada as records kept in Canada.

Security and data residency

Run T1 season on a workflow

Build one personal tax workflow, with the document request, preparation task, review, and sign-off, and assign it to every T1 client at once.

Workflow automation

Collect slips without the email chase

Send one secure request for T4s, T5s, RRSP receipts, and the rest. Clients upload without an account, and you see exactly what is still missing.

Document collection

T2 year-ends and GST/HST on schedule

Set up corporate year-ends and periodic GST/HST filings as engagements with due dates, and your team gets automatic due-date reminders before they slip.

Deadline tracking

Invoices with GST/HST built in

Bill with a configurable tax rate and your own label, such as GST or HST, plus branded PDFs, payment terms, and a secure link for the client to view each invoice.

Timesheets and billing

Ask about CRA rules in plain language

The AI assistant answers common questions about CRA deadlines and T1 and T2 rules, as a starting point to confirm before anything reaches a client.

The recurring CRA work to set up first

Most small Canadian firms run the same filing work every year. Set each one up once as a recurring workflow, assign it to the clients it applies to, and each period’s work is created on schedule.

T1 personal returns
Due April 30 for most individuals. Self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners have until June 15 to file, but any balance owing is still due April 30.
T2 corporation returns
Due six months after the end of the corporation’s tax year. The balance owing is generally due two or three months after year-end, depending on the corporation.
GST/HST returns
Due monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on the registrant’s reporting period.
T4 and T5 information returns
Due the last day of February following the calendar year they report.
T3 trust returns
Due 90 days after the end of the trust’s tax year.

A pre-loaded tax calendar is coming soon. Today, you set these up as engagements with due dates and CPA Buddy sends your team automatic due-date reminders. Confirm dates with the CRA each year: a deadline that falls on a weekend or public holiday moves to the next business day.

Frequently asked questions

Can CPA Buddy store our data in Canada?

Yes. CPA Buddy offers data residency in Canada and the USA, so a Canadian firm can keep client information in Canada. That also matters for your firm’s own required records, since the CRA does not consider records kept outside Canada and accessed from Canada to be kept in Canada.

Is CPA Buddy priced in Canadian dollars?

Yes. Every plan has a Canadian dollar price: Solo is $34 CAD a month, Team is $119 CAD a month, Firm is $249 CAD a month. Annual billing charges 10 months for 12, and every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with no credit card.

Does CPA Buddy replace my tax software?

No. Keep the T1 and T2 preparation and EFILE software you use today. CPA Buddy runs the firm around it: clients, deadlines, document requests, client email, engagement letters, and billing.

Does it work for bookkeeping firms?

Yes. Monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and GST/HST work run as engagements with workflows and due dates, and a recurring workflow creates each period’s work on a schedule. QuickBooks Online clients sync into CPA Buddy today, and Xero and Zoho Books sync are coming soon.

Is CPA Buddy a Canadian company?

Yes. CPA Buddy is built by OfficeHQ AI Inc., headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, and serves firms in Canada and the United States.
